Welcome to St. Stephen Lutheran Church!
A Note from Pastor Ellen . . . . . . .
The L o n g G r e e n season is upon us: the season of the Church, the season of growth. Are there things Saint Stephen should be doing that we're not? Wait! I'm going to rephrase that; I dislike the word "SHOULD!" I once heard that there is an eleventh commandment: "Though shalt not SHOULD on thyself." So let me put it this way: where do YOU see God at work in the world(s) you in habit (family, friends, work, play)? I'd really like to hear. "I DON'T" is not an acceptable answer; look harder – or holier. I'm gonna be at the church every Wednesday from June 2nd to July 28th for Worship on Wednesday anyway, so I'll probably go work on the garden after worship if it's not raining. You can look for me there; or email me; or make an appointement; or send me a note. The Holying Spirit of God is at work in the world. Let's join in! Shalom / Salaam, Pastor Ellen |
Please plan to worship regularly! It is the vitamin B-12 shot of Jesus people!

Looking for other opportunities to participate?
Sunday School teachers: Done as a team, so you won’t be tied up every week and
other helpers, special event folks are always needed. Call Kim Weiser at 847-838-3138 (or kimanddavew@sbcglobal.net) or Sheryl Johnson at 847-245-8689 (or samapes@comcast.net)
Open Arms Mission team: Serves at the Mission every month. Times change occasionally, so it is best to call the Church Office to find out what our assigned time(s) will be. It's not easy work, but it IS very satisfying.
Open Arms grocery-store type operation: Open Arms is looking for a couple of people [two couples?] to run a local, grocery-store type operation at an area location for people who need food. Ask Pastor Ellen at Saint Stephen's, or call Tabitha at the Mission at 847-395-0309.
Confirmation Class mentors: Mentors meet with a student of the same gender and talk . .
about “stuff,” get to know them, and let them know you. Guidance will be given; meetings will likely take place for 20 or 30 minutes after each confirmation class ( currently on Monday evenings; call Pastor Ellen if you are interested ).
If there is something you would like to talk with Pastor Ellen about:
- Please leave a message on her telephone voice mail at the church at 847-395-3359
